Community Mourns the Passing of Larry Thompson After Surgical Complications

The community is mourning the loss of Larry Thompson, who passed away following complications from surgery. Thompson, the former owner of Thompson Brothers Construction, sold the business in 2023 before stepping into a new chapter as the private owner of Double E in August 2024.

In a statement, Chris Morris, president and CEO of Double E, reflected on Thompson’s remarkable impact despite their short time working together.
“Although I had the privilege of working with Larry for less than a year, his impact on me — and on our entire organization — was profound,” Morris said. “Larry’s toughness and direct nature were matched only by his genuine care for every person connected to the Double E. He led with clarity, courage, and an unwavering belief in people.”

Thompson was widely respected as a leader who balanced strength with compassion, earning the admiration of colleagues, employees, and friends alike. His passing leaves a void not only within Double E but also in the broader community where his leadership and integrity made a lasting impression.

As loved ones and colleagues process this difficult loss, tributes continue to pour in for a man remembered for his resilience, dedication, and genuine care for others. Funeral arrangements are expected to be shared in the coming days as the community prepares to honor Larry Thompson’s life and legacy.
