Woodlawn Mourns the Loss of Beloved Irish Dance Leader Bridget Flynn Reidy

The Woodlawn and Yonkers communities are in mourning following the passing of Bridget Flynn Reidy, who died peacefully on September 27, 2025, at her home in Yonkers, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. She was 62.

Bridget was the devoted wife of Mike Reidy and the proud mother of their cherished son, Mikey, who was the light of her life. Her family, friends, and all who knew her are heartbroken by this loss.

A pillar of the Woodlawn community, Bridget was a respected and inspirational figure whose influence extended far beyond her own family. She founded and directed the Flynn School of Irish Dance, where she combined her love of Irish culture with her gift for teaching. Through dance, she instilled not only technique but also confidence, discipline, and spirit in generations of young dancers. To many, she was more than a teacher—she was a mentor, role model, and source of unwavering encouragement.

Her dedication to her students created not just a school, but a community of support and friendship that became a second family to countless dancers and their parents. Bridget’s pride in her students was boundless, and her legacy will live on in the lives she inspired both on and off the stage.

Beyond the dance floor, Bridget was known for her kindness, generosity, and deep commitment to family and community. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anne Flynn, and is survived by her siblings Michael (Peggy) Flynn, Mary (Tony) McGarry, Sean Flynn, and Theresa (Timmy) Cullen. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law Maria Jean, wife of the late Thomas Flynn. Bridget was predeceased by her brothers Timmy and Patrick Flynn.

She was a devoted aunt to Shaun Flynn, Meghan McGarry, Jennifer Konczynski, and Tara Cammarota, all of whom adored her and will carry her spirit forward in their lives.

Services for Bridget will be held at Hodder’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1st, with visiting hours from 2–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Barnabas Church on Thursday (time to be announced), followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

Bridget’s warmth, strength, and unshakable spirit will be missed beyond measure. Her legacy is etched into the hearts of her family, her students, and the wider community she served with love and dedication.

May she rest in eternal peace.
